« Dansez, sinon nous sommes perdus. »
Pina Bausch (1940-2009)

Editorial

“Dance plays a major role in human relationships. It’s a school of social behaviour – of group harmony. Dance is the school of generosity and of love; of community spirit and human unity”.
Rudolf Laban (1879-1958)

“The history of dance is the social history of the world”.
Martha Graham (1894-1991)

“Dance! Otherwise we’re done for”.
Pina Bausch (1940-2009)

These quotations from those who knew dance, art and their trials long before us feel useful and up-to-date, after this difficult, disturbed summer for everyone involved in the performing arts – artistically or technically.
I find them to the point also in inviting you to join us this season at the CCNT, whether to discover generous, comitted artists, or to meet them once again.
At this time, when the Centres chorégraphiques nationaux are celebrating their 30th anniversary,
When next July we’ll be welcoming the 29th congress of the International Council of Kinetography Laban / Labanotation (ICKL),
When at the next edition of Tours d’Horizons a show created in the early 80s will be given side by side with new works,
When we'll be welcoming, in residency, dancers who are embarking on their first choreographed act...
...I believe that dance, with its past and future, is being played here every day: with the artists and with you, on stage and off, speechless or in exchanging a few words...
I’m delighted that the CCNT should be this place of passion, sharing, creation, research, transmission, openness and discussion.

Merry Season to all, and welcome to the CCNT!
