Tours d'Horizons : édito

Pour cette édition 2019 du festival, nombre d’artistes se penchent sur le passé pour s’investir dans leurs démarches artistiques, et aller de l’avant ! Alors que Sophiatou Kossoko se réapproprie un processus performatif de Latifa Laâbissi pour son Continuum, Emmanuel Eggermont interroge le passé, le présent et la présence de ce qui est en devenir, dans Vorspiel opus 3. Bernardo Montet s’inspire de David Lynch pour tracer des paysages identitaires dans Mon âme pour un baiser, tandis que pour Ils n’ont rien vu, ce sont les mots de Duras qui, dans un premier temps, questionnent l’effacement et la transformation de la mémoire dans Hiroshima mon amour. Au Japon nous retournerons avec UTT, solo de la grande dame du butô, Carlotta Ikeda et de Ko Murobushi, transmis à la danseuse Mai Ishiwata. Johanna Lévy, quant à elle, réunit ses Convives pour un dîner chorégraphique «  festenien » au beau milieu d’une église à Amboise. Salomé, Valeska Gert et Hannah Arendt ressuscitent dans l’âme et dans le corps d’Andrea Sitter, pour sa création Juste au corps, Salomé. Un Ritual convoque Merce Cunningham au Cloître de La Psalette, pour le centenaire de la naissance du chorégraphe américain. Si Ashley Chen et Cheryl Therrien y œuvreront, Foofwa d’Imobilité, un autre ancien soliste de ce maître de la danse, lui rendra également hommage lors d’un Dancewalk inédit. Daniel Larrieu, de retour à Tours, réinvente le passé à travers Chiquenaudes et Romance en stuc. Nous jouerons également de ses souvenirs chorégraphiques avec PLAY612 ! (à noter que pour les 30 ans du CCNT, nous avons donc la joie d’accueillir les créations de ses trois derniers directeurs dans cette édition !). Nous serons ensuite embarqués par l’énergie et la technicité subjuguantes de la compagnie chinoise Tao Dance Theater, qui présente ses pièces dans le monde entier, et par la poésie du chorégraphe Yvann Alexandre, invité par le Centre des monuments nationaux à donner ses Éclats performatifs dans le cadre magnifique du château d’Azay-le-Rideau. Sans oublier qu’il faudra traverser également quelques Bourrasques en sous-sol, mais aussi L’envol des falaises, pour se retrouver à l’Unisson en clôture du festival sur le dance floor ! Alors cher public… Prêt pour ce grand voyage ? Bon festival à tous !

Pondering our remembrance. Invoking our memory. Questioning our roots. Transmitting our emotions. Creating, reinventing, inspiring, resuscitating...
For this 2019 edition of the festival, many of the artists are mulling over the past to clothe their present artistic ventures whilst moving forwards. While Sophiatou Kossoko for Continuum makes a performance process of Latifa Laâbissi's her own again, Emmanuel Eggermont wonders about the past, the present and the presence of what is coming into being, in Vorspiel opus 3. Bernardo Montet is inspired by David Lynch to trace identity landscapes in Mon âme pour un baiser, while in the case of Ils n’ont rien vu, it is Duras's words that first question the erasing and transformation of memory in Hiroshima mon amour. We will be back in Japan with UTT, a solo by by Ko Murobushi once danced by that great lady of Butô, Carlotta Ikeda, and transmitted to dancer Mai Ishiwata. As for Johanna Lévy, her guests will come together for a festive choreography dinner in the middle of a church in Amboise.  Salomé, Valeska Gert and Hannah Arendt will come to life again in spirit, in the body of Andrea Sitter, for her new work Juste au corps, Salomé. A Ritual invokes Merce Cunningham at the Psalette cloister, for the centenary of the American choreographer's birth. While Ashley Chen and Cheryl Therrien are busy with that, Foofwa d’Imobilité, another old soloist of that great dance master, will also pay him homage with an unseen Dancewalk. Daniel Larrieu is back in Tours, reinventing the past through Chiquenaudes and Romance en stuc. We will also play around with his choreography memories with Play 612! (note that for the CCNT's thirtieth birthday, we are overjoyed and grateful to welcome works by its last three directors in this festival edition.) We will then be swept along by the subjugating energy and technicity of the Tao Dance Theatre from China, who presents its works all over the world, and by Yvann Alexandre's poetic choreography. He is invited by the Centre des monuments nationaux to give his performace Éclats in the magnificent setting of Azay-le-Rideau Castle. We will have to weather a few storms with Bourrasques en sous-sol and take off from the cliff tops with L’envol des falaises becore we can get together in Unisson at the close of the festival on the dance floor!
