« Enracinés ou déracinés, ancrés dans la vie ou fuyant vers le possible, tous plongent de plain-pied dans leur culture, questionnent la liberté du corps, cassent nos représentations. Leurs danses défient, résistent, revendiquent, apaisent ou encore rendent hommage. Cette année encore, un parcours dans nos différents lieux partenaires, que je remercie particulièrement, vous permet de sillonner la ville pour aller à la rencontre de pièces chorégraphiques riches, diverses et contrastées. Le tango glissera ses pas au CCNT, accompagné des danses latines investies par les danseurs amateurs tourangeaux. Un flamenco « libanais » à l'humour incisif frappera avec intelligence notre plancher, foulé ensuite par l'énergie du chorégraphe kenyan Mani A. Mungai. La compagnie Shifts, quant à elle, nous emmènera au pied des rizières asiatiques, via son carnet de voyage chorégraphique. Au Nouvel Olympia, les sons de Tel Aviv et la physicalité des danseurs de Yuval Pick précéderont le chant poignant d'Oum Kalthoum porté avec force et sensibilité par Radhouane El Meddeb. Comme transformée, Catherine Diverrès retrouvera Kazuo Ohno au Petit Faucheux, alors que l'enlacement cher aux brésiliens contaminera le square Sourdillon. Loreta Juodkaité, tornade poétique tout droit venue de Lituanie, s'envolera au Cloître de La Psalette tandis qu’à la salle Thélème, Le Trait de Nacera Belaza vous portera vers des chemins inconnus, tracés par la grâce des interprètes. Notons bien sûr à la Pléiade, la création Une trop bruyante solitude du chorégraphe iranien Afshin Ghaffarian, ainsi que la première du duo sud-coréen Kyung Eun-Park et Jung Oh-Lee. Enfin, la danse s'invitera au Musée des Beaux-Arts avec l'installation Dancers ! du chorégraphe Bud Blumenthal, ainsi qu'aux Cinémas Studio, où vous pourrez découvrir le film de Cédric Martinelli et Julien Touati, La Table aux chiens, retraçant leur rencontre avec la danse traditionnelle indienne. Bien que l'ailleurs continue de refléter pour beaucoup l’inquiétude de l'étrange, il est temps de quitter ce craintif reflet pour plonger dans l’inconnu : nous sommes tous d'ailleurs ! » [Thomas Lebrun]

This second edition of Tours d’Horizons will cross continents, cultures and thoughts. These meetings with artists separated by geographical or artistic miles will take you on a choreography voyage that, I hope, will seize your eyes, disturb your imagination and ruffle up the obvious… Some of the artists have grown deep-thrusting roots; others have uprooted themselves. Some are solidly anchored; others are escaping towards whatever’s possible. But all dive right into their culture, questioning body freedom and rumpling up our notions. Their dances defy, resist, make claims, calm down or pay homage. I wish to thank most especially our partner venues, as once again this year you’ll be able to wander about town discovering rich and contrasting choreography works in diverse places. Tango will glide around the CCNT, along with other Latin dances given by amateur Tours dancers. Fiercely humoristic Flamenco from Lebanon will tap cleverly on our floor, which will later be energetically trampled on by the Kenyan choreographer Mani A. Mungai. The Shifts company, in turn, will use its choreography travel book to transport us to the edge of Asian paddy fields. At the Nouvel Olympia, the sounds of Tel Aviv combined with Yuval Pick’s dancers’ physicality will precede Oum Kalthoum’s poignant airs, carried with strength and sensitivity by Radhouane El Meddeb. As if she were transformed, Catherine Diverrès will meet with Kazuo Ohno at the Petit Faucheux, while the embrace so dear to Brazilians will infiltrate Sourdillon Square. Loreta Juodkaité, a poetical tornedo straight from Lithuania, will take off at the Cloître de la Psalette, while at Thélème, Le Trait by Nacera Belaza will carry you to uncovered ground, gingerly mapped out by the grace of her dancers. And two brand-new shows : Une trop bruyante solitude, by Iranian choreographer Afshin Ghaffarian at the Pléiade, and the première of a South-Korean duet  Kyung Eun-Park and Jung Oh-Lee at the CCNT. Finally, dance will invite itself both into the Musée des Beaux-Arts, with Bud Blumenthal’s installation Dancers !, and into the Cinemas Studio, where you can discover Cédric Martinelli and Julien Touati’s film La Table aux chiens, which traces back their pathway to traditional Indian dance. The Great Elsewhere may continue to signify worrisome strangeness, but isn’t it time to step away from fearsome reflections and into the Unfamiliar? After all, we’re all from somewhere else!
